St. Edward’s Episcopal Church in Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Project Overview

St. Edward’s Episcopal Church in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, approached Denver Stained Glass with a deeply meaningful request: to create a stained glass window honoring their former pastor. The church initially envisioned a Tree of Life to symbolize growth, faith, and the enduring connection within their congregation. During a collaborative Zoom meeting, the pastor shared a desire to incorporate Jesus on the Sea of Galilee—an image rich in symbolism and spiritual comfort.

Drawing from both ideas, our designer, Maria, crafted a composition that gracefully united the Tree of Life with the serene imagery of Jesus on the water. The final design represents strength, renewal, and unwavering faith, blending two powerful themes into one cohesive work of art.

Working closely with the church throughout the process, Denver Stained Glass ensured that every detail aligned with their story and spiritual vision, resulting in a window that honors their past while inspiring their community for years to come.

Project Details

This custom stained glass project in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, was created for an Episcopal church seeking a deeply meaningful tribute to their former pastor. Crafted from hand-painted and leaded glass, the installation consisted of approximately 20–24 individual panels that together formed one continuous, flowing image. Because of the complexity of the composition, our team meticulously mapped out each section to ensure the artwork read seamlessly as a unified scene once installed.

Working within a limited budget, we strategically reduced the amount of hand-painting and instead incorporated richly textured and vibrantly colored background glass. This approach maintained visual depth and harmony while keeping the project cost-effective, allowing the church to achieve a stunning result without compromising craftsmanship. The finished window stands as a beautifully cohesive work of art, honoring the church’s vision with both elegance and purpose.

Notable Highlights

What truly set this project apart was the heartfelt collaboration between the church and our design team. By uniting the Tree of Life with the imagery of Jesus on the Sea of Galilee, the final composition conveys a message of hope, resilience, and unity—values that hold deep meaning for the St. Edward’s community.

Despite the project’s scale and intricate design, the finished window came together as a luminous and spiritually moving centerpiece. It now enhances the sanctuary with warmth and symbolism, offering both beauty and inspiration to all who gather within.
